Public International Law

  Mrs. Kortfält holds an LLM from the Department of Law at Stockholm University. She has amongst other places worked at the Swedish National Defense College, the United Nations Association of Sweden and been a Law Clerk with the Legal Advisory Section of the Office of the Prosecutor, ICTY.

In 2003 Mrs. Kortfält started to work as a Lecturer of Law at Stockholm University where she specializes in Public International Law, International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law as well as the Human Rights of Women and Children.

Mrs. Kortfält has furthermore regularly lectured at e.g. Örebro University, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Swedish Foundation for Human Rights and the Stockholm School of Theology. She is currently employed as a doctoral candidate at the Department of Law at Stockholm University, working towards the completion of her PhD dissertation.

The dissertation "Sexual Violence against Children and International Criminal Law - the role of the Doctrine of Superior Responsibility" aims to critically review, systematize and analyze International Criminal Law with regards to the treatment of Sexual Violence against Children. The rules and the application thereof, in e.g. the ad hoc tribunals and the ICC, will subsequently be linked to the role of holding leaders accountable in combating sexual violence against children. A central part of the dissertation will hence be allocated to the Doctrine of Superior Responsibility.
